We first met McKendree Key and Dany Rose in the fall of 2015 after they ordered a couple coveralls to wear as uniforms in their studio Artshack, a nonprofit ceramics and art studio in Brooklyn, NY. They said they got coveralls for their students and were excited to finally find a good pair for themselves. When we first visited them they were working out of Dany's house. Since then the two have opened two different creative spaces in Brooklyn and expanded their classes to kids of all ages. The Art Shack offers a variety of classes, mostly relating to ceramics. I think our favorite has to be their "Date Night" class. If only for their description "Even if your relationship doesn't make it through the weekend, your bowl sure will!"
If you are not local to Brooklyn you can check out their line of ceramics made by students in which all the proceeds go towards a scholarship fund for free ceramics classes for kids ages 5-14.
